Activity

Much of our activity involves networking to extend interest in Critical Philosophy and SD among professionals across disciplines and to encourage the fostering of ethical practice in various fields of application.

We do this by

  • Organizing conferences. Our last conference, jointly sponsored with the PPA was held in Berlin  during the last week of July 2005

  • Publishing papers and books on Ethics and Critical Philosophy -

In 2004 we published two key volumes: Ethics and Socratic Dialogue in Civil Society Edited by Patricia Shipley and Heidi Mason, published by LIT Verlag (Munster) and Enquiring Minds - Socratic Dialogue in Education, was published jointly by Trentham Books, SFCP and PPA. Since 1998, the Society has also published Occasional Working Papers in Ethics and the Critical Philosophy from time to time.

  • Running Socratic Dialogues

  • Giving grants to scholars and professionals working in the fields of critical philosophy and ethics

  • Keeping up links with ethical organisations within the United Kingdom

  • Publishing articles related to our activity

  • Giving presentations to interested organisations

  • Supporting UK and international scholars

SFCP has a mailing list to which anyone interested in our activities can be added. A news bulletin is sent out twice or three times a year and publications like the Occasional Working Papers mentioned above are listed and available on request.

As Dialogue is a central feature of our activities, we would very much appreciate the response of our readers to any of the foregoing.
